Coastguard is a charity, run by volunteers, dedicated to saving lives at sea. They have units placed along New Zealand's coastline and major lakes and rivers.

If you become a coastguard member through our “Boaties Best Mate” initiative,  we will provide free assistance such as a jump start or if necessary, a tow home.

Of course, in an emergency situation where lives may be at risk, we will be mobilised quickly to respond to the emergency.
